Drug addict, who raided a Erdington convenience store and terrified a cashier apart from indulging in other robbery crimes, has been jailed for 14 years.
According to local reports, the accused Richard Cartwright went to a One Stop store in Springfield Road, Sutton New Hall, and pulled out a small handgun which he pointed at the waist of the woman working there.
He then gave her ten seconds to open the till demanding all the money that was there. After she handed over cash he said it was not enough and took packets of cigarettes before getting into a taxi he had previously booked.
Apart from raiding a convenience store, the duo also has been accused of targeting elderly people by posing as police officers on multiple occasions. In one of such robberies, an elderly victim suffered swelling and two loosened teeth.
The resident of Wood End Road, Erdington, previously admitted two charges of robbery, possessing an imitation firearm and burglary. He was found guilty of a further charge of robbery and was jailed for 14 years.
The co-accused Louise Murphy was also convicted of robbery and was sentenced to seven years.
