Donations from Nisa’s charity hit 12,000 milestone

Nisa said its charity Making a Difference Locally (MADL) has donated to a total of 12,000 good causes as of the beginning of January.

Youth sports teams, community groups, hospices, health and wellbeing charities and many more such good causes across the UK and Ireland have benefited since the charity’s formation in 2008.

MADL donated £850,000 last year, and the charity has raised over £11 million to date.

Kate Carroll, Nisa’s head of charity, said: “We are delighted that our retailers and their customers have helped us to support good causes with over 12,000 donations since 2008 as the funding will benefit so many very deserving charities and good causes.

“Nisa retailers are often at the heart of their communities and figures like these show just how much of a positive impact they can have on the local area.”

MADL raises funds in Nisa partner stores from sales of all Heritage and Co-op own-label products, a percentage of which goes into a virtual fund for retailers to donate. Stores are then able to donate funds raised to a local charity or good cause of their choice within a 10 mile radius.

There are over 2,300 stores participating in the initiative.
