Nine thousand counterfeit cigarettes have been found recently by a sniffer dog in four local shops in Glasgow, reports stated on Wednesday (1).

Around three and a half kilograms of hand-rolling tobacco was also uncovered in the raids. The operation saw the specialist teams search four shops in the city.

Boo the Detection Dog sniffed out the illegal fags during a joint operation with Glasgow City Council, Police Scotland, Trading Standards and HMRC.

Boo is the only tobacco-trained detection dog in Glasgow and is specially trained. She previously joined 14 inspections between July and September which saw the seizure of 200,000 fags and 19.5 kilograms of illicit tobacco, reports said.
