Britons are facing shortage once again- this time of their favourite Walker crisps as images of crisp-less bare shelves have been reported from across the country.
Shortage of fan-favourite Walker has made Britons resorting their annoyance in social media with some arguing it to be the most significant crisis of this year – even more so than the petrol shortage.

“I can tolerate no bog roll, petrol and all the other nonsense but a shortage of Walkers crisps is too much for me,” wrote another social media user.
While drivers shortage due to Brexit was earlier attributed for Walker crisis, the Leicester-based company has shut down that theory by explaining the reason behind the recent problems as an IT system failure.
A spokesperson for the firm behind the iconic crisp brand – fronted by Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker – said, “A recent IT system upgrade has disrupted the supply of some of our products.
“Our sites are still making crisps and snacks, but at a reduced scale.
“We’re doing everything we can to increase production and get people’s favourites back on shelves. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience caused,” the spokesperson said on Wednesday (10).
Walkers has said it is prioritising its most popular crisp flavours, including cheese and onion, ready salted and salt and vinegar, as well as Quavers and Wotsits.
The Walkers spokesperson did however warn the crisp shortage could last to the end of the month as current stocks are now in short supply.
Crisps including classic ready salted Walkers to Quavers have been in short supply, with customers struggling to get hold of packs in stores. Morrison Teesside has even placed a limit on the amount of crisps each customer can buy, reports said.
The shortage of crisps has seen some empty shelves in the shops and prompted some to sell Walkers products at inflated prices on eBay, with the Daily Mail reporting one seller was charging £6 a packet.
