Bradford retailer dreams big and scoops £10K Camelot quarterly prize

Bradford-based National Lottery retailer, Wahid Khan – owner of Idle Road Newsagents – is the latest retailer to win £10k in National Lottery operator Camelot’s Site, Stock, Sell online quarterly prize draw.

Wahid often has conversations with his customers about having a bit of fun, dreaming big and playing small on The National Lottery. This is in line with Camelot’s healthy play messaging in retail and digital – ‘Dream Big, Play Small’. But little did he know that it would be him whose dreams became reality.

“I have a loyal customer base that play The National Lottery at my shop and we always have a conversation about playing for fun and dreaming big and buying a lottery ticket or a Scratchcard or two,” said Wahid. “It’s a vital part of my business, and they generally always buy something else as well.”

“But I was shocked when I found out it was me who’d won £10,000 in Camelot’s own quarterly prize draw. It means I can take some time off and have a holiday. I’ll probably throw a party, as having my family around me is everything.”

Along with the huge £10,000 prize, a further 10 x £1,000 prizes were awarded to National Lottery retailers by Camelot in the quarterly draw. The winning retailers are:

    ·         Scott Duncan of Duncan Enterprises in Aberdeen

    ·         Ramji Kerai of Premier Pricedown Store in Barry

    ·         Sohilkumar Patel of Akshar News in Aldershot

    ·         Anupama Sivakaran of Sri Sai convenience Store in London

    ·         Nageswaran Selvadurai of Oak Food and Wine in Edgware

    ·         Priya Varsani of Wigan Leos Ltd in Abram

    ·         A National Lottery retailer on the Isle of Wight

    ·         A National Lottery retailer in Preston

    ·         A National Lottery retailer in Rugby

    ·         A National Lottery retailer in Wallsend

Anupama Sivakaran said, “I’ll be using some of this money to give my staff a bonus, as they do such a good job maintaining high in-store standards for Site, Stock, Sell online, and they always make sure The National Lottery is clearly visible and front and centre at all times.”

Scott Duncan said, “It was a lovely surprise to find out I’d won. It means I can treat my one-year-old baby and it’ll also help with nursey fees.”

Camelot’s Retail Director, Alex Green, said, “Congratulations to this quarter’s Site, Stock Sell online winners. Thank you for all the work that you – and all our retailer partners – do to maximise National Lottery sales in your stores by maintaining high in-store standards. This helps contribute to the £30 million for Good Causes that is raised each and every week by National Lottery players.”
