Booker chief executive Charles Wilson has condoled the death of Ramniklal Solanki, the editor-in-chief of Asian Trader and the founder of Asian Media Group (AMG).
Wilson said the impact Mr. Solanki has had on Asian traders will be his greatest legacy.
“Ramniklal was a genius, legend and inspiration. As a journalist, publisher and expert he transformed convenience retailing which had a huge impact on Britain,” Wilson wrote in a letter to Mr. Solanki’s family.
“Your father’s influence went far beyond the retail world. He had the ear of politicians, business leaders and famous celebrities. However his greatest legacy is the amazing family he leaves behind and the impact he has had on Asian traders everywhere.
“As a pillar of the community he will be missed by thousands and thousands. Please add his friends at Booker to that long list of mourners.”
Mr. Solanki has passed away on 1 March in Ahmedabad, India.
