Biona launches organic dark chocolate fruit and nut snacks

Organic food supplier Biona has announced the launch of a new range of chocolate covered fruit and nut snacks, which will be available to retailers from May onwards, with an RRP of £2.29.

Designed to appeal to the growing number of consumers looking for indulgent snack products that are both flavourful and more thoughtfully made, Biona is launching a range of dark chocolate covered snacks containing either almonds, strawberries or cherries. The almonds are oven-roasted to perfection, sprinkled with sea salt and coated in velvety dark chocolate for a luxurious snack experience. The fruit versions contain freeze-dried strawberries or cherries, preserving their natural flavour, nutrients and vibrant colour. All three products are coated with Fair Trade-certified dark chocolate containing 62% cocoa for a rich, ethically sourced treat that's also free from palm oil too.

This growing desire for eating wholefoods is certainly impacting the snacking category with many consumers now wishing to make better choices in between meals, and moving away from highly artificial ingredients lists. Consumers are first and foremost looking for products that deliver on taste, simplicity and transparency, which organic is perfectly aligned with. Nuts in particular are growing in popularity as a snack, due to their many nutritional benefits including high protein content, magnesium, fibre and more.

“At Biona our snacks category is certainly an area where we see plenty of potential for further growth, and we’re delighted to bring to market these three new organic products that combine the nutritional power of nuts and fruit with the indulgence of high-quality dark chocolate," said Carmen Ferguson, Brand Manager at Biona’s parent company Windmill Organics. "Not only are they delicious, but consumers will also like the fact they are packaged in paper, to meet the growing demand for more sustainable packaging solutions.”
