Bestway Group has expanded into the automotive sector with the official launch of Geely Auto in Pakistan, marking a significant milestone in the Group's international growth and diversification strategy.
Through its newly established Bestway Automotive business, the Group will act as Geely Auto's sole authorised distributor in Pakistan, overseeing vehicle sales, distribution and after-sales services.
The partnership was formally launched at an event in Islamabad, attended by Bestway Group Founder Sir Anwar Pervez, Chairman Lord Zameer Choudrey, and senior executives from Bestway Group and Geely Auto.
Three models were introduced at the launch: the Geely EX2, EX5 and Starray EM-R, bringing a new range of automotive technologies and vehicle choices to the Pakistani market.
A significant step in Bestway Group's growth strategy
Beyond the initial launch, the partnership includes plans to establish local vehicle assembly near Port Qasim Karachi, with Bestway preparing its 25,000 car per annum facility for the next phase of Geely's operations in Pakistan.
The proposed expansion is expected to create opportunities for local manufacturing, employment, technical skills development and growth across Pakistan's automotive supply chain.
“Our partnership with Geely marks an important milestone in Bestway Group's continued growth and diversification," said Haider Choudrey, Group Chief Executive Officer of Bestway Group. "Pakistan has been central to our investment strategy for many years, and our entry into the automotive sector reflects our confidence in the country's long-term potential.
The move builds on Bestway Group's significant and longstanding investment in Pakistan. Over the past three years, the Group has invested more than US$350 million in the country through businesses including cement manufacturing and banking, creating over 20,000 jobs and supporting livelihoods.
Irfan Sheikh, Group Managing Director for Non-Banking Businesses at Bestway Group, Pakistan, said the partnership brings together Bestway's local market expertise and Geely's international automotive capabilities.
He highlighted the Group's ambition to establish Geely as a trusted automotive brand in Pakistan, supported by a strong customer proposition, after-sales services and future local assembly capabilities.
A long-term partnership with Geely Auto
Evin Ye, Vice President of GAIC and Managing Director of Geely Auto ASEAN, welcomed the partnership, highlighting Pakistan's growth potential and the importance of working with an established local partner.
He said the collaboration reflects Geely's commitment to introducing safe, intelligent and high-quality mobility solutions, supported by long-term customer service and investment in the market.
The partnership combines Bestway Group's established business infrastructure and understanding of the Pakistani market with Geely Auto's global automotive expertise.
Together, the companies aim to develop a sustainable automotive business, supporting greater consumer choice and the long-term development of Pakistan's automotive industry.
“By combining Bestway's established presence and understanding of the Pakistani market with Geely's global automotive expertise, we have an opportunity to build a strong and sustainable automotive business," said Ye.
"Our ambition extends beyond bringing new vehicles to market. We want to support the development of local manufacturing capabilities, create opportunities for employment and skills development, and contribute to the growth of Pakistan's automotive industry.
“This is a long-term investment in a sector we believe has significant potential, and we look forward to building a successful partnership with Geely.”
