Bendicks taps into dark chocolate growth with new Mint Fondants

Leading premium after-dinner mint brand Bendicks has expanded its premium collection with the introduction of new Mint Fondants to its line-up.

The brand looks to tap into the growing trend for indulgent options as more shoppers buy into darker chocolate, allowing retailers to encourage their customers to trade up in the after-dinner mint category. Dark chocolate is one of the biggest growing trends in confectionery, with value sales up 23 per cent in the last year.

“The introduction of our new Mint Fondant pack is an exciting launch for the brand. Having monitored consumer behaviour, we see an increased demand for dark chocolate, dairy-free and vegan options, as well as indulgent flavours and softer textures,” commented Rebecca Robert, marketing director at Storck UK.

The new dark chocolate mints are expected to drive further growth to the boxed chocolate category, especially following a successful year for Bendicks, which experienced 3 per cent growth ahead of the declining category (-2%) in 2020.

“Bendicks Mint Fondants use the highest quality ingredients, and are Kosher Pareve, gluten-free and vegan so certainly deliver against these consumer desires. We’re confident that the new pack will be enjoyed by our existing Bendicks customers, but will also encourage new shoppers to buy into the finest, quintessentially English after-dinner mints,” Robert added.

The 180g box of individually gold wrapped dark chocolate mints (RRP £4.11) deliver the perfect gift this spring. Launching into Tesco and Ocado next week, the new packs will be widely available later this month.
