Meister Hunter competition returns to find world’s best Jägermeister Cocktail

Jägermeister UK’s annual competition to find the world’s best cocktail containing the herbal liqueur is back for a sixth consecutive year, calling for entries for 2023’s “Meister Hunter” competition.

The annual competition challenges bartenders to use a minimum of 25ml of Jägermeister, Jägermeister Cold Brew Coffee or Jägermeister Manifest, to discover the complexity and versatility of the liquid – which is made up of 56 herbs, spices and botanicals – and craft a cool, fresh creation.

The winners will be awarded a share of the £4,500 prize money, with first place winning £3,000, second place taking home £1,000 and £500 for third place – alongside the glory of being crowned the Meisters of Jägermeister.

Prizes will also be granted to entrants with the most creative video or best picture of their concoction, winning bespoke bar tools and bottles from the Jägermeister portfolio in the first round and cash prizes totalling £500 in the final round.

The rules for entry are simple: use a minimum of 25ml of your chosen Jägermeister brand liquor and up to five other ingredients (not including garnish). Entries must be made via Instagram before 10th July and include a video or image of the cocktail, alongside its name and specification. Posts must tag the Meister Hunter Instagram page @meisterhunter and use the hashtag #meisterhunter23.

Meister Hunter competition returns to find world’s best Jägermeister CocktailThroughout the entry period, Jägermeister’s UK Brand Ambassador, Florian Beuren, will take a Masterclass Roadshow around the country to offer bartenders the opportunity to learn more about Jägermeister, Jägermeister Cold Brew Coffee and Jägermeister Manifest, potentially in preparation for their entry.

Semi-finalists will be invited to compete in head-to-head regional heats across the country, including Edinburgh, Manchester, Cardiff, London, Dublin and Canada, before coming to a crecendo with an intense two-day final held in London later this year, with details to be revealed at a later date.

At the final, contenders will learn about an element of the 5 senses before putting what they’ve learned into use to create their final drink. Breaking tyical cocktail competition conventions, the public will be able to apply for tickets to witness the showdown first-hand to experience one of the ‘best nights of their life’ – an ongoing mission of Jägermeister.

Going from strength to strength ‘Meister Hunter’ continues to cause a stir, operating in the UK, Canada, Ireland and new participant Switzerland, with each running their own finals for the privilege to compete in the 2023 London final. The competition provides an opportunity for bartenders to discover the complexity and versatility of the liquid, which is made up of 56 herbs, spices and botanicals.

Meister Hunter competition returns to find world’s best Jägermeister Cocktail“Meister Hunter was the most fun competition I have ever competed in. The whole experience taught me so much and I was made to felt like joining a family. The whole competition also spurred my love for Jägermeister even more!” said Meister Hunter 2022 winner, Carrie Smith.

Mast-Jägermeister UK Brand Ambassador, Florian Beuren, said: “The competition is about changing the perception of bartenders as it showcases Jägermeister from a different angle. Most people know Jägermeister as a shot, which is what we are, but a lot of people don’t know that Jägermeister is a fantastic mixing spirit which is super versatile and adds layers of flavour to drinks and cocktails due to its 56 botanicals.

“The Meister Hunter competition was designed to send bartenders on a six-month journey where we get to showcase to the competitors the value of the brand as well as provide insight about the rich heritage and history of our German herbal liquor.

“Over the years the competition has grown, and we have created memories and friendships, which is fantastic as even though it’s a competition, we want the competitors to have a good time and give something back to the bartending community.”

The Meister Hunter 2023 Competition is open now, with entries to be submitted on Instagram before 10 July.
