Leading dog food brand Butcher’s Nourishing Food for Dogs has announced a huge milestone in its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, having now donated over 2.5 million meals to dogs in need via its #NourishEveryDog initiative.

Every time the #NourishEveryDog hashtag is used on social media, a meal is donated by Butcher’s, supporting dog homes, shelters, rescue charities and pet food banks nationwide with meal donations.

Since starting the #NourishEveryDog campaign four years ago, over 2.5 million meals have been donated to over 400 charities.

The news comes at a challenging time for pet owners as cost of living pressures mean that 40 per cent of pet owners are anxious about the costs of their pet, with 60 per cent of people seeing an increase in pet bills.

Every week over 1,000 people have to make the difficult decision to give up their dog, with the number of dogs in animal rescue centres and rehoming facilities on the rise amidst the cost-of-living crisis.

“It’s a really tough time for people at the moment, as the cost of living crisis impacts everything around our day-to-day lives and, sadly, our pets are also feeling this impact. It’s heartbreaking to see the increasing rate of people having to give up their dog, but it does give our #NourishEveryDog initiative all the more purpose,” Natasha Bryant, senior brand manager at Butcher’s Nourishing Food for Dogs, said.

“We’re incredibly proud to have donated over 2.5 million meals to over 400 different charities nationwide, and have set ourselves an even more ambitious goal of 3 million by the end of 2023. We’re calling for everyone to use #NourishEveryDog on social media – it really is that simple, and a meal is donated every single time it is used!”
