The Co-op Windermere Row fundraising event for GroceryAid celebrated its 40th year last week (4 May) with 200+ rowers taking to the stunning waters of Lake Windermere to compete in a 10-mile row, raising a record total of more than £165,000 in the process.

This year’s Co-op Row included 44 teams from 35 companies, 75% of which were taking part for the first time, making it the most successful row to date. Major sponsors of the event were 2 sisters Food Group, Arla, dunbia and Nestle.

“Co-op is delighted to be the new partner for this event, helping GroceryAid raise valuable funds to support colleagues across the industry,”said Sinead Bell, Commercial Director at Co-op. “The event is also a unique opportunity for our teams to spend quality time with suppliers, helping to strengthen those relationships in a relaxed environment.”

Jane Hill, Fundraising Director said: “Partnering with Co-op on the Windermere Row has been a game changer, the event was the most ambitious yet with a complete makeover, bigger, better and more brands than ever. “

New to the event this year was the Activation Village, located at the Wateredge Inn, Ambleside, providing brands with an opportunity to showcase products to everyone taking part, including 50 of Co-op’s commercial team. Brands activating in this area included illy, Emmi, Clean Co, KP Snacks, Shott Beverages, Curators, Love Raw, ON Optimum Nutrition and Vitamin Well.

The event culminated in an evening celebration dinner at the beautiful Low Bay Resort, with prize giving and more time to network with the industry and Co-op team.
