Meat. The End introduces the world’s first texturized chickpea protein burger

Meat. The End, an Israeli food-tech company developing innovative ingredients for the meat substitute industry, is proud to announce its recent revolutionary development of a burger made from texturized chickpea protein.

Chickpea is a rich source of protein, is non-GMO, has a neutral taste, is non-allergenic, and is versatile for use in various applications. It is a well-known and consumer-friendly protein worldwide. Meat. The End’s chickpea protein products will be commercially available already in 2023.

The company was founded in 2020 by an international team of senior food industry professionals, including biochemists, mechanical engineers, food engineers and Artificial Intelligence experts. Its focus is on industrial extrusion processes, and already making first steps in revolutionizing mass production of alternative protein products.

“The food market of the future requires us to rethink protein sources,” said the company’s founder and CEO, Dr Yishai Mishor. “The collapse of climatic stability, and an ongoing rise in beef prices put enormous pressure on the global food-supply chain. With local crises such as the war in Ukraine, we’re facing an acute need for a diversification of protein sources.

“That’s why we are incredibly proud of our development, a result of unique scientific and technological work, at the end of which we present a burger with the taste and smell of meat, and a texture that resembles meat, without competition. This is all based on a protein ingredient source that up until today was not known in the meat alternative industry. It is an incredible accomplishment.”

This announcement comes six months after Meat. The End announced its first commercial agreement of its kind with the global fast-food chain Burger King, in which Meat. The End developed unique products based on soy protein for the chain, making Meat. The End became the first food-tech company in Israel to sign a supply agreement with an international food-chain. In the upcoming summer, the company will be establishing the only extrusion pilot plant in Israel, investing over three million euro.
