Nisa’s charity unveils advent calendar style initiative

Making a Difference Locally (MADL), Nisa’s charity, has launched their final initiative of the year – the 12 Days of Christmas.

In an advent calendar style reveal on the MADL social channels, 12 charities have been selected from across the UK to receive additional festive funding from MADL.

All the good causes operate within local communities served by Nisa’s independent retailers and have been selected by MADL Ambassadors – a group of Nisa colleagues who help to promote MADL and the funding initiatives to retailers and encourage their involvement.

The countdown is now underway with the first “door” of the special advent calendar opening on 13 December to reveal a £1,000 award to North Dorset Beekeepers Association.

This week has seen £1,000 funding go to the Arts at the Mill CIC in Wigan (14 December), £1,000 handed to Bearded Fishermen in North Lincolnshire (15 December) and today Children and Families in Grief, based in Devon were the recipients of the £1,000 award.

A further eight good causes will be revealed up to and including Christmas Eve when the final £1,000 award will be announced, concluding the £12,000 charity giveaway for each of the 12 days of Christmas.

“We know that there are so many incredible causes across the UK that our independent retailers are keen to support, and we wanted to give something a little extra this Christmas when so many communities are struggling,” Helen Walker, marketing manager at MADL, said.

“Tying the initiative in with the 12 Days of Christmas helped to give it a festive feel as well as add in some suspense as we reveal one winner at a time during the countdown to Christmas Day.”
