Lincolnshire adds e-cigarettes as NRT option

One You Lincolnshire, the healthy lifestyle service funded by Lincolnshire County Council, has added e-cigarettes as a nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) option to adult smokers.

The service has always been e-cigarette friendly, supporting clients using e-cigarettes rather than smoking tobacco products.

“But the client has always been responsible for purchasing these for themselves. However, since October 2022, the service is now able to offer e-cigarettes as a nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) option to anyone who is over 18 and a smoker,” One You Lincolnshire said.

The e-cigarette products will be free to anyone wishing to quit smoking, and they can be used solely on their own or combined with other NRT products like nicotine patches.

Recently, the latest Cochrane review has found the strongest evidence yet that e-cigarettes help people to quit smoking better than traditional nicotine replacement therapies, such as patches and chewing gums.

Earlier, researchers from Queen Mary University of London has found that e-cigarettes may be more effective than nicotine patches and do not pose any greater risks to mothers or babies during pregnancy.

One You Lincolnshire conducts a 12-week Be Smoke Free programme to help smokers quit the habit. It offers a wide variety of NRT products including patches, gum, lozenges, mouth/nasal sprays, and inhalators.
