    Biggar gets new SPAR

Arshad Aslam has opened a new SPAR store in Biggar, South Lanarkshire

Independent retailer Arshad Aslam has opened a new SPAR store on the High Street of Biggar, South Lanarkshire on 17 November.

The 2,500 sqft store has been refurbished after sitting empty for a while and now hosts a range of products and services for the local community to enjoy, especially the Pizza Parlour which offers pizzas for takeout.

The store has an off licence, a variety of newspapers and magazines, lottery, Payzone, ATM, Hermes, American confectionery, Equi’s ice cream, Tango ice blast, Rollover hot dogs and Costa Coffee.

Customers also have a range of quality products to choose from including SPAR’s own label products.

On the opening day, the team held a free prize draw for customers, offering two £50 vouchers. There were 100 SPAR goody bags available, face painting and product sampling for all shoppers. There was a main draw for customers to be in with a chance to win a Bush 24” smart HD TV or a bicycle. There were also great offers of leading products.

Arshad Aslam said: “I have been with SPAR for four months now and I am delighted with my decision. I was initially drawn towards SPAR because of recommendations received from other SPAR retailers. It has been a trying time with the cost of living going up, however with SPAR’s support, I have managed to keep a strong value message within my store. I look forward to launching the store and giving something back to my loyal customers.”

Steven Irons, CJ Lang & Son wholesale sales director, said: “We are delighted Arshad has taken over SPAR Biggar and welcome him and his team to SPAR. Our focus will be on helping Arshad grow his business to help take it to the next level.

“We are committed to investing in the growth of our independent retailer network which is a key ingredient in the success of SPAR Scotland. This latest store re-opening underlines our commitment to growing the business for the long term.”

SPAR Biggar is situated on 60 High Street and is open from 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 8am until 10pm on Sundays.
