CBD uptake higher than ever but many still skeptical: survey

Seven out of 10 Brits (71%) say they have never tried a CBD (Cannabidiol) product, but this is all predicted to change rapidly in a market that’s tipped to reach a value of $47 billion (£39bn) by 2028, states a new research

According to a survey on CBD product use, conducted by the Product of the Year, CBD oil and vapes ranked top of the products tried, polling 19 per cent of the votes.

CBD blended into food and/or drinks drew in 10 per cent of the votes and infused gummies failed to rank at all. This is a product that’s on the cusp of breaking out of its niche as it makes its way into the mainstream.

Pain relief, stress/anxiety relief and sleep issues all ranked equally with a third of the votes each (33%) when asked about the main reason for using CBD products.

“While CBD usage in the UK is steadily rising, there are still a significant number of people who haven’t tried it yet,” says Helga Slater, managing director of Product of the Year. “We don’t have to look further than it’s success in the US where CBD products have won Product of the Year awards three consecutive years in a row, to see the direction we’re likely to be headed in. This is a category that is rich in innovation and we’re excited to see where it goes.”
