Checkpoint announces update to leading surveillance antenna

Global retail technology solutions provider Checkpoint Systems has launched an updated version of its market-leading NS40 Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) antenna.

The NS42 benefits from all the features of the NS40, but comes with with different installation options, meaning this free-standing sensor can now be located anywhere in-store, rather than being confined to a checkout.

Checkpoint said this provides grocery retailers with a discreet but powerful loss prevention solution that can provide protection at any point on the shop floor.

Developed in response to demand from retailers for an NS40 antenna that could be placed in different locations around a store, the NEO-based NS42 antenna features the same award winning design, detection and ease-of-installation characteristics as the NS40. These include an ultra-slim, unobtrusive and slick design that can be tailored to any different retailer requirements without an adverse impact on detection rates.

Armed with the patented 360° circular array technology, the NS42 delivers excellent, high-performance detection, with Bluetooth connectivity for easy deployment. With customisable LED light and sound files, the sensor enables alerts to be dealt with efficiently by the store operator. This ‘early’ loss prevention alarm helps tackle incidents of non-deactivation promptly, particularly if the antenna is installed at the checkout and aids the retailer in the successful recovery of goods before they reach the exit doors.

Available in a brushed steel finish as standard, the NS42 can be painted, powder-coated or vinyl wrapped to match a store’s visual identity. Custom Voice messages and a variety of sounds and coloured LEDs can be created for different alarm events.

Additionally, the connectivity of NEO delivers historic trend data via the SaaS Cloud service, providing retailers with a rich source of activity data to improve shrinkage results and help monitor store performance, while also providing proactive maintenance support, with more than 50 per cent of technical issues resolved remotely.

“We are very excited about the introduction of the NS42 antenna. Retailers have been asking us for some time to develop a version of the award-winning NS40 antenna – that offers the same design aesthetics, detection capabilities, functionality and ease-of-installation – but with the added bonus of being able to install any place around the store. We expect this product to be incredibly popular among our customers and are very much looking forward to introducing it to the industry,” Nimesh Shah, Global Senior Director of Product Management at Checkpoint Systems, commented.

“The NS40 and NS42 antennas are powerful loss prevention solutions which fill a gap in the market for sensors that not only perform brilliantly, but look good too. The NS40 is already being used by many retailers across the globe to great success, and we are expecting that the NS42 will be equally popular.”
