Beverley, Hull-based D&S Retail group has sold its six convenience stores located throughout the East Riding of Yorkshire to Naeem Ahmad, a growing multi-site operator based in the North of England for an undisclosed sum.

The stores located in the affluent villages of Cherry Burton, Leven, Skirlaugh, South Cave, Brandesburton and Walkington will be renovated and rebranded under the Nisa symbol group, as Ahmad plans to enhance the offering at each shop to ensure they continue to be a large part of the local communities.

The deal was brokered by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co, whose sister company, Christie Finance also helped Ahmad in securing the funding for the purchase.

James Moore-Martin, Regional Director – Retail, North and Scotland, at Christie & Co, commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to announce the completion of these six convenience stores which formed the D&S Retail group on behalf of David, Steve and the Thompson family. These high turnover stores are within close proximity of each other in the East Yorkshire region and are an ideal acquisition for Naeem Ahmad and his family as they grow their portfolio across the North of England.”

David Thompson, of D&S Retail, said: “Many thanks indeed to Christie & Co for all your efforts regarding the sale of D&S Retail Stores Limited. With your involvement, I believe you managed to meet the aspirations of both ourselves and the purchaser.”
