GroceryAid: applications open for the School Essentials Grant

The GroceryAid School Essentials Grant returns to help reduce the financial impact when children go back to school in September on low-income families working in the grocery industry. With living costs the highest they have been, many families will be worried about affording the necessities for school.

If you meet the criteria and provide all the information requested with your application, you could receive a grant of £150 per school age child, for up to a maximum of three children per household. Before applying for a School Essentials Grant please check that you meet all the criteria:

    • Currently working in the grocery industry and can evidence the last six months’ employment with the same company
    • Must be in receipt of Universal Credit/Child Tax Credit for school age children. School age children are classed as aged 4-18 years as of 31 August 2022.
    • Household savings balances totalling under £4,000
    • If you have received a financial grant from GroceryAid since 1 March 2022, you will not be eligible for this School Essentials Grant.

Make sure you apply for the grant early as once the fund has been spent GroceryAid will close applications.
