Officers are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at a convenience store in Huddersfield.

Two masked men entered Watan Superstore on Victoria Road at about 7.45am on Monday (January 24) and threatened the storekeeper with bladed weapons, West Yorkshire Police said.

The men, wearing balaclavas and gloves, took the store till with cash inside and fled.

“We are investigating this offence which left the victim shocked, but unharmed, and would like to speak with anyone who has information,” Detective Inspector James Bellhouse of Kirklees CID, said.

“The robbery took place on a busy road at a time of day when people would have been going to work and it is possible these men would have been seen either outside the shop after the crime or entering it just prior to the robbery.”

Anyone who can assist enquiries is asked to contact Kirklees CID on 101 referencing crime number 13220040786. Information can also be given online referencing the same offence number or anonymously to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
