South Ockenden store relaunched as Nisa with improved range

Independent retailer Henry Sudhir has opened a new Nisa store in South Ockenden, Essex.

Sudhir has taken over a retail unit that had laid dormant for more than six months and extended the premises by around 200 sq.ft. to 935 sq.ft.

Previously operated as a best-one, the store has now been relaunched as a Nisa Local, with the addition of a dedicated food to go offer along with new and additional chillers for a full chilled range including BWS.

The shop, which launched just before Christmas, now boasts a full convenience offer to shoppers who have been wowed by the refurbishment.

Sudhir said: “Previously the shop had not stocked any chilled range and no alcohol and that is something we have made the most of and which customers seem to really like.

“We’ve already changed the shop layout since we opened and moved the chilled to the front of the store. We found customers who used to shop here before we took over didn’t realise there was a full new range available but now they see the chilled products as soon as they walk in.”

The refurbishment also included new flooring and ceilings along with modern new lighting throughout and the eye-catching new fascia outside along with full internal signage.

With sales growing steadily each week, Sudhir said he is monitoring closely and will keep tailoring the range to meet customer demand.

“Our customers have been really impressed with what we have done. The extension in particular takes them by surprise, and they can’t believe the difference. It looks much better inside and out and there’s a lot more for shoppers than there used to be,” he added.
