Asian Trader Awards are back, with Kwasi Kwarteng

Asian Trader today hosts hundreds of grocery industry staff, who are eagerly anticipating this return to actual rather than virtual reality.

At last, we can meet and greet all our friends in person once again, ready for a great evening of entertainment, fine food and celebrations – at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London – culminating in the announcement of the 2021 Asian Trader of the Year.

The Asian Trader Awards are honoured and delighted to have Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng as our special guest this year.

After Paul Boateng, Kwarteng is the only black man to serve in a UK government cabinet, and is the first to serve in a Conservative one. He is also a brand-new father and an outspoken politician.

There has been nothing like the coronavirus pandemic in living memory and it has changed many things, not least the role and the scope of the UK convenience channel, raising the profile and importance of independent retailers in a manner that has accelerated the development of innovation and creativity across the sector.

Testament to this is the sheer quality of entries for our Asian Trader Awards categories this year, which the judges have found the most difficult ever, so high has been the standard of all retailers who have given their valuable time to compete for the prize at the award ceremony.

The 32nd edition of the awards, the premier awards ceremony for the independent convenience retailing industry, is organised by Asian Media Group, publishers of Asian Trader magazine. The event will be hosted by noted impressionist Rory Bremner.
