Two suspects, accused of four counts of business robbery, possession of a bladed article and possession of an offensive weapons, have pleaded guilty. The two have been jailed for a combined total of more than 13 years.

Lewis Creighton, 27, and Joshua Anderson, 19, have been convicted of terrifying workers of four convenience stores in a shocking 20 minute armed robbery spree in the morning of August 14.

Creighton, 27, reportedly had split one shopkeeper’s head open with a machete in the robbery. The pair emptied the till and stole three bottles of vodka from Mini Market, in Newton Road before heading to Mini Market  in a stolen Audi where they attacked another shop worker.

The shopkeeper at Mini Market had to be taken to hospital with his injuries and had stitches to his finger and his head. The duo had stuffed cash from the till.

Their next target was a store in Warrington Road, Leigh where they grabbed gin and demanded that the shopkeeper fill his bag with cigarettes.

The fourth and final robbery was at Food & Drink 4 U, in Green Street, Atherton, where Anderson tried to open the till to no avail and Creighton then hit the shopkeeper on the back of the head three times with his machete, as well as to his back. Eventually Anderson just pulled the till off its shelf and they ran away with it.

Responding to the attacks, police tracked down and arrested both Creighton and Anderson and also recovered stolen items.
