Nescafé encourages retailers to join Macmillan’s Coffee Morning

Nescafé Original, an official sponsor of Macmillan Cancer Support’s Coffee Morning, has urged retailers within the wholesale and convenience channel to join the annual event to raise vital funds for people living with cancer.

Running for over 30 years, the official date this year is Friday 24 September, but it can be held at any time and however you like, from a group in the garden, sharing a coffee over a screen or a takeaway cake and coffee.

The brand has unveiled a limited-edition Nescafé Original Macmillan jar (PMP £2.99) and is hosting a travelling nationwide roadshow, with the aim of raising further funds and encouraging retailers to host their own Macmillan Coffee Morning events.

An exclusive Nescafé Original and Macmillan van has been visiting key wholesale depots and convenience stores throughout August and September giving away delicious lattes, chocolate mochas and cappuccinos made with Nescafé Original. So far, the roadshow has raised more than £2,000 with many more stops still to go during September. Find out the nearest location to you here.

In addition, the brand has made a donation of £250,000 to the charity and Nestlé Professional, Nestlé’s foodservice division, is also supporting Macmillan’s Coffee Morning this year by donating £1 to Macmillan for every purchase of a 1kg, 750g and 500g Decaf Nescafé Original tin from the Nestlé Professional range, between 1-15 September 2021.

“Nescafé Original is thrilled to support Macmillan, whose work is so important to those affected by cancer. There’s no problem too big or too small for Macmillan – it is there for everyone,” Bruna Goncalves, brand manager for Nescafé Original at Nestlé UK, said.

“Coffee Mornings are a great way to raise vital funds while enjoying your favourite coffee. Every coffee poured and every penny raised helps to support a fantastic cause – we would encourage everyone out there to play a part. So put the kettle on and get involved!”

While the disruption caused by the pandemic has meant a higher increase in demand for the charity’s services, its income is down. Hosting a Coffee Morning to raise vital funds has never been more important as nearly all (98%) of Macmillan’s funding come directly from donations, the charity said.

“We are delighted to have Nescafé Original on board as an official sponsor for Macmillan’s Coffee Morning again this year. Disruption caused by Covid-19 means Macmillan’s income is down at a time when demand for our services is up so it’s never been more important to host a Coffee Morning,” Claire Rowney, executive director of fundraising, marketing & innovation at Macmillan Cancer Support, said.
