FTG brand Jake&Nayns’ celebrates Women’s Day with artful donation

Leicester based food-to-go brand Jake&Nayns’ is celebrating International Women’s Day by supporting women’s charity Wish.

Wish is a user-led charity working among women with mental health needs in prison, hospital and the community.

Jake&Nayns’, the naan bread-filled snack business, partnered with social media influencer Julia Alvina to promote the work Wish do.

As someone who has struggled from mental health, Alvina found that the medication she was on affected her appetite, energy and general desire to cook or eat.

“Jake&Nayns’ was a big help as it provided a quick and easy solution while also being incredibly delicious,” she said.

The initiative sees them auctioning a one-off picture which Alvina had posted with her favourite lunch meal, a Jake&Nayns’ Mexican Chicken Burrito, to raise much needed funds and awareness for Wish.

“Over the last twelve months charities have found it hard to raise money due to the pandemic and this is a great way to highlight the great work Wish do for women. We are hoping all our convenience, supermarket and wholesale customers and suppliers will support this worthy cause,” commented Jake Karia, managing director of Jake&Nayns’.

Karia added that the business has invested in the well-being of its largely female-led workforce by offering a number of support services.

Established in 1987, Wish provides independent advocacy, emotional support and practical guidance at all stages of a woman’s journey through the criminal justice system.

Joyce Kallevik, a Director from Wish, said: “We are so grateful for the support of Jake&Nayns’, which is all the more appreciated given the unprecedented climate we are operating in at the moment. We’ve lost valuable income over the past year, but the demand for our services remains as high as ever. Support from businesses like Jake&Nayns’ has never been more important.”

The auction is available via eBay and all proceeds will go to Wish. When the bidding reaches £250, Jake&Nayns’ will add a further £250. Bidding ends on14 March 2021.
