    Man injured in suspected robbery at Lancashire newsagents

    A man was taken to hospital with facial wounds following a robbery at a Lancashire newsagents.

    The suspect was nabbed soon after the incident at the Bank Street News in Rawtenstall on 25 November.

    Police were called at around 9.40am to reports that a man had stolen a till from the store, before fleeing on foot.

    As the officers arrived, they discovered a man allegedly injured during the incident.

    “During the incident a 38-year-old man was injured and later taken to hospital to be treated for puncture wounds to his cheek,” Lancashire Police said in a statement.

    Officers quickly located and arrested the suspect, Connor Stokes, 24, of Linden Lea, Rawtenstall, after a search of the area. Police said a weapon and the till were recovered from him.

    Stokes was charged with robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.
