PepsiCo said it will move all its ready-to-drink beverages, including Pepsi MAX, 7Up Free and Tropicana, to bottles made using 100% recycled plastic by the end of 2022.

The move is supported by the recent extension of PepsiCo’s exclusive partnership with British soft drinks producer Britvic.

“PepsiCo and Britvic share a vision of creating a circular economy on plastic packaging, and building a world where plastic need never become waste,” commented Silviu Popovici, chief executive of PepsiCo Europe.

“In support of this ambition, we are very pleased to announce that all of our ready-to-drink brands, including those produced under our exclusive bottling agreement in Great Britain, will be bottled in 100% recycled PET by the end of 2022.”

The US soft drinks giant already uses bottles made from 100% recycled plastic for its Naked smoothies brand and the newly launched Tropicana Lean.

Launched last month, the new Tropicana Lean range consists of three flavours; Citrus Fruit, Mixed Berries and Tropical Fruit. The drink contains 40% less sugar compared to fruit juices on average.
