A man pushed a female staff as he robbed a Bilsthorpe, Nottinghamshire store of cigarettes last week.

The offender, carrying a tool, entered Tesco Express in The Crescent, Bilsthorpe at around 11pm on 8 October when the store is about to close.

He kicked the shop door open and pushed a staff member, demanding money from the woman.

When he was told there was no money, he asked for cigarettes and again pushed the female shop worker towards the cigarette cupboard.

He left the shop on foot with a carrier bag full of cigarettes.

Officers investigating the incident have issued an appeal for witnesses.

“This was a fear-provoking incident which left the staff members distraught,” said Detective Constable India Woodrow, of Nottinghamshire Police.

“The store has also been left out of pocket due to the stolen cigarettes and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in The Crescent or surrounding areas or entered the store just before it closed on Thursday night and saw someone acting suspiciously.

Officers also appealed to anyone with dash-cam footage of the area at that time to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 and quote incident number 853 of 8 October 2020.
