Nottinghamshire Police has issued an appeal for witnesses after a shopkeeper has been “left distraught” over racist remarks by a customer.

The incident happened last month in Arnold Road in Old Basford, Nottingham left the victim “shocked and upset,” the police said in a statement.

Police Constable Thomas Stenson said the suspect racially abused the shopkeeper on his way out of the store after a purchase.

“On leaving, the owner of the store greeted the man. The suspect then followed the owner back into the store and racially abused him,” Stenson said.

Officers have released two pictures of a man in connection with the incident.

“We are keen to speak to this man pictured who might be able to help us our enquiries. If you recognise him, please let us know and call 101, quoting incident 246 of 7 September 2020,” Stenson added.
