Post Office has launched a consultation on the role of postmasters and its commercial partners in the development and execution of business decisions at the network.

The process, running for 12 weeks, will involve in depth discussions and a survey of over 8,000 Postmasters. A separate survey and discussions will take place with commercial partners who operate multiple Post Office branches.

“This consultation is part of our efforts to reset our relationship with postmasters and hear directly from them about how they want to be involved in the development and execution of business decisions,” said Amanda Jones, Post Office retail and franchise network director.

The consultation follows several other measures by Post Office after its settlement with claimant sub-postmasters in the long-running Horizon trial.

These included the creation of new non-executive director position in its board for a serving postmaster and a scheme for current and former sub-postmasters to claim shortfalls related to previous versions of the scandal-hit computer system Horizon.

Postmasters can find out more information about the consultation on a dedicated microsite, where they can also submit their views. The consultation is being run by an independent agency Quadrangle.
