Spar operator Blakemore Retail has honoured its stores that raised the most funds for the children’s charity NSPCC during its last fundraising year.

The top three fundraising stores and most improved store received a personalised certificate and trophy.

Stores raised £252,910 in 2019-20, taking Blakemore Retail’s partnership total to more than £3.7 million for the NSPCC. The retailer has supported the NSPCC’s Schools Service, which visits primary schools with the charity’s ‘Speak Out. Stay Safe’ programme, for more than 14 years.

The Winthorpe Avenue store in Skegness bagged the top prize and the honour of most improved store by raising £7,102.

Matt Teague, Blakemore Retail managing director, commented: “I’m immensely proud of what our colleagues have achieved during such a challenging year.

“I would like to thank every single Blakemore Retail employee and customer for their amazing support. Without your help and generosity, we wouldn’t be able to support the NSPCC’s mission to help children stay safe from abuse and neglect.”
