New limited edition flavour marks 75th anniversary of Seabrook Crisps

Seabrook Crisps has announced the launch of a limited edition Fish & Chips flavour to celebrate its 75th anniversary.

The flavour revisits the original fish and chip shop roots of the Bradford-based brand, when founder Charles Brook and his son Colin began giving customers at their Yorkshire fish and chip shop free, freshly fried and salted crisps to keep them happy whilst queueing for their evening supper.

As the crisps became more popular than the fish and chips themselves, Seabrook Crisps was born in 1945.

“It’s a testament to the brand and the quality of product that Seabrook Crisps is celebrating 75 years and is still continuing to excite the nation’s taste buds and grow in today’s fiercely competitive market,” said Jon Wood, commercial director at brand owner Calbee UK.

To mark the occasion, Seabrook Crisps has teamed up with the Yorkshire Evening Post to create an eye catching pack design using original newspaper print, with real stories from 1945.

The limited edition Fish & Chip packs will be available in a six pack multipack and a 150g sharing pack from major cash & carry and wholesale operators.

“We want retailers and consumers to share in the celebrations and will continue to invest in the brand with an ATL campaign that will drive awareness and sales,” Wood added.

The pioneering brand were the first to cook its crisps in sunflower oil, use sea salt, remove MSG and become gluten free. It is the only mainstream crisp brand to be Coeliac accredited.

Calbee purchased Seabrook Crisps in October 2018.
