Warburtons concentrates on core range to address supply disruption

Warburtons said it is concentrating on a core range of products to ensure baking for longer periods of time.

The announcement comes after several retailers complained of disruption to deliveries to their stores during the Covid-19 crisis.

The company said the latest move will help it to bake more products overall. The core range includes Toastie, Medium and Thickest white loaves, Farmhouse & Wholemeal loaves, Crumpets, white rolls, Bagels, Sandwich Thins, potato cakes, pancakes and muffins.

“We know this may be disappointing for those looking for your favourite product, but we believe it is important in order to get more bread to more shops,” said Jonathan Warburton, chairman of the family business.

Jonathan added that the company is working closely with retailers to get as much product as possible into stores every day.

“Supporting our communities is more important now than perhaps it has ever been. Throughout this difficult time we will continue to donate to foodbanks and local community groups as much as we can, and will be working with other partners to see what more can be done,” he said.
