    Septuagenarian shopkeeper injured in attempted robbery in Lowestoft

    A shopkeeper was assaulted and injured in Lowestoft, Suffolk as he tried to stop a man from robbing his store.

    The incident happened at the Meikle Newsagents store on the junction of St Margaret’s Road and Sussex Road in Lowestoft at around 10.50pm on 7 February.

    The shopkeeper, a male in his 70s, was assaulted when he confronted a man who demanded money from him. He sustained an eye and hand injury.

    The offender could not take any money from the store.

    Suffolk Police has issued an appeal for witnesses. The suspect wearing a dark hooded top ran along Sussex Road and into an alleyway after the assault, officers said.
