Arla Foods strengthens logistics operations with PCL acquisition

Arla Foods factory in Settle, YOrkshire is testing all workers and contractors following the coronavirus outbreak

Arla Foods UK has announced the acquisition of logistics provider PCL Transport 24/7 Ltd to ensure stability of its Hatfield operations.

The acquisition will see Arla taking on the services which are currently performed by PCL, with the exception of Bristol.

“Bringing our Hatfield operations in-house will allow us to focus on delivering the best possible service to our customers,” said Ash Amirahmadi, managing director of Arla Foods UK.

“We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues at the Hatfield site and we will work hard to maintain a smooth and seamless transition for our customers throughout this process.”

As part of the deal, Arla will take over the lease to the Hatfield warehouse and bring in-house all logistics operations related to those services previously provided by PCL. Around 470 PCL employees are expected to transfer to Arla.

The acquisition has also brought forward the timeline for Arla’s transfer of its Bristol operations, which were awarded to GIST.
