Prominent c-stores added in SPAR Scotland family

Leading Scottish convenience and wholesale business CJ Lang & Son Ltd has acquired three prominent convenience stores.

Making the announcement made on social media today (26), the wholesaler stated CJ Lang & Son Ltd is announcing the acquisition of three prominent convenience stores, which previously traded as Eddy’s Food Station stores. Located in Larbert, Greenock and Leuchars, the stores have been fixtures in their respective communities for years, earning a reputation for offering a diverse selection of fresh produce, chilled foods, BWS, store cupboard staples, and additional services.

Colin McLean, CEO of CJ Lang & Son Ltd, said, “We are happy to welcome these three convenience stores into the SPAR Scotland family, following the sad news of its previous owner recently entering into administration.

“We recognise the challenges facing many convenience store operators at the moment, but we are pleased we have been able to work quickly to secure the future of these stores and the store staff involved. This will ensure local jobs are retained and the stores remain open to continue serving their communities.

“Their addition supports our growing presence in Scotland, enabling us to provide customers with an excellent shopping experience. We are committed to maintaining the high standards of service that customers have come to expect from SPAR and we plan to support local initiatives and organisations in the surrounding areas as we do already from all SPAR stores in Scotland.”

With the completion of the acquisition, CJ Lang & Son Ltd looks forward to building upon the legacy of these convenience stores whilst continuing to deliver value and excellence to customers across the region.

Work will start immediately on transferring the three stores to SPAR. Existing store staff will be retained, ensuring a seamless transition for both employees and customers, while the stores will be fully serviced and supported by CJ Lang’s distribution depot in Dundee.
