NP Group donates £1,800 to Darwen community groups

Nisa retailer NP Group has donated £1,800 to three local causes through the symbol group’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity initiative.

Three donations of £600 each were granted to the Darwen Food Larder, Darwen Rotary Club and the Darwen Heritage Centre. NP Group said they are ‘determined to support’ these initiatives that play a crucial role in supporting the Darwen community on a regular basis.

Located on Blackburn Road, the Nisa Local store has also set up a food bin for customer donations to the Darwen Food Larder and is actively exploring additional ways to participate in MADL Initiatives.

“We are thrilled to be able to support these three worthy causes through Making a Difference Locally,” said Anthony Furnell, operations manager at the Blackburn Road store. “We believe it’s important to be invested in the community we serve, and this donation is just the beginning.”

NP Group has demonstrated a clear commitment to supporting communities across their portfolio of stores with previous donations to Manchester Central Foodbank and Airedale Foodbank.

MADL raises funds in Nisa partner stores from sales of all Co-op own-label products, with a percentage going into a virtual fund for retailers to donate. Additional funds can also be raised via in-store collecting tins and clothing banks.

Since its inception, the initiative has donated over £17 million to local charities and community organisations.

“It is fantastic to see the Blackburn Road store becoming so involved in their local community,” said Kate Carroll, head of charity at Nisa. “Their support for these three varied initiatives demonstrates a genuine commitment to making a positive impact.”
