A popular store in Brecon, Powys has changed hands after the owner decided to call it a day.

Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has announces the sale of Talybont Stores, a convenience store, post office and café. The business acts as a hub for locals, thanks to its varied offerings and spacious café area.

Situated in Talybont-on-Usk, in the heart of Brecon Beacons, the store is surrounded by scenic countryside and benefits from passing and tourist trade.

Robert Jones, who owned and operated the store, sold it in order to retire and move abroad.

Commenting on the sale, Jones said: “Joe at Christie & Co was recommended to me by a friend at my local cash and carry, l decided to contact them for an initial conversation. During the whole process, Joe was at the end of a phone and took a lot of pressure off us, right up to the day of completion.”

Christie & Co said the new owners have just moved to the area and plan to run Talybont Stores as a family business. They have previous experience in retail and plan to continue to run the store while also looking to expand.

Joe Brayne, senior business agent at Christie & Co who handled the sale, said: “It was a pleasure working with both parties to satisfactory completion. We had a number of viewings and multiple offers which shows how attractive the business and area are.”
