Castell Howell rakes in award for children’s food project

Leading independent food wholesaler Castell Howell has been recognised for its significant contribution to 4theregion’s ‘Gower Fields to Forks’ project at the Children’s Food Awards.

The project was the recipient of the ‘Yummy Award for the Best Local Initiative Improving Children’s Food’ in recognition of its contribution to transforming the local food system to prioritise children’s food.

Castell Howell collaborated with local farms and Bishopston Comprehensive School for the project which was headed up by 4theregion, a membership alliance working to bring about positive change in South Wales.

Castell Howell supplied vegetables grown in the Gower fields through its supply chain, and delivered them to the school.

“We are so proud to have been involved in this initiative, and winning this award is the cherry on top of the cake,” said Ed Morgan, group corporate social responsibility manager at Castell Howell Foods.

“We hope this collaboration between supply chain partners can develop and flourish, and continue, not only to improve children’s food, but to nurture and inspire the next generation of horticulturalists.”
