Celebrations as franchisee opens his 13th One Stop store

One Stop franchisee, Danny Wilson is celebrating after opening his 13th store with the convenience retailer, with the latest addition to his portfolio in Bridlington, East Riding, Yorkshire.

Danny’s new store is located in a former hardware shop which was run-down and tired looking. Danny has worked with One Stop to give the building a significant facelift and the result is 1,800sq ft of space which has been customised to create a fantastic new store for the community.

“We’ve opened a number of One Stop stores in quick succession,” said Danny. “Once you have one store, you follow the same One Stop systems and replicate what you’ve done, focusing on what’s been successful and the demographic of the area.

“We’ve found the technology allows the stores to virtually run on their own as the orders automatically curate whether you’re there or not. We just look through the order and check if we need any additional stock and that’s it! Other symbol groups we’ve worked with weren’t nearly as advanced, so this allows me to operate multiple sites with ease.”

Danny employs mostly from the local communities where his stores are based, around the Scarborough, Bridlington and northeast area. He believes in promoting good colleagues, a faith which has allowed him to expand quickly, as he explains: “I recently promoted someone who had very high standards as a manager in one of my stores. I put her in place to train other managers of new stores meaning I could ensure the same consistent standards across all of them. If you have good people and good systems, you’ll have a good business.”

One Stop has nearly 250 franchise stores in its portfolio, with many franchisees now owning multiple sites. “It only feels like yesterday when we congratulated Danny for opening his 12th store! He has a strong team that leads by example, and he has worked hard to build a solid and well-respected portfolio of One Stop stores in the Northeast,” said John Miller, Head of Franchise.
