Welsh government strengthens coronavirus protective measures

The Welsh Government has announced plans to strengthen the coronavirus protective measures that are already in place in Wales in response to high infection rates.

During the Welsh Government’s three-week review, the First Minister Mark Drakeford confirmed that Wales will remain at alert level zero with additional measures in place to reduce the high levels of community transmission. These measures include changes to self-isolating guidance, Covid Pass use and testing in schools.

As part of this activity, the Welsh Government has been consulting with business organisations including ACS, and are asking businesses to ensure that they are delivering all existing Covid restrictions. ACS has produced a one page briefing on retailer requirements here and posters to use in stores are here.

The government has updated self-isolation guidance to reflect latest data on household transmission. The new guidance states that if someone in your household has symptoms or has tested positive for coronavirus you should self-isolate and take a PCR test and you may only stop self-isolating if your test is negative.

The Welsh government has also reminded businesses of the importance of enforcing the legal regulations of face coverings on their premises as well as their legal requirement of carrying out site specific Covid-19 risk assessments.
