One Stop has announced the return of its popular Christmas Elf ‘Eddy’, with a new app-based seasonal festive game, Eddy’s Christmas Heroes.
Live from 11 November, the game can be played till 30 December at home as well as in store.
This year’s Christmas campaign by the convenience retail business, ‘Celebrating Christmas Heroes’, will honour the community heroes who have gone above and beyond to help others, including One Stop’s own front-line team across the 900 stores.
As part of the campaign, customers will have the opportunity to win instant prizes including Maltesers Reindeers or boxes of Celebrations when they visit a store.
They will also have the chance to win £1,000 each week – with some weeks giving customers multiple chances – with a final draw giving one lucky winner the jackpot of £5,000.
“At One Stop, Christmas is always a big season for us. But it’s not just about providing products and taking customers’ money. We are aware that lots of people coming into store will have financial constraints due to the pandemic, so we do want to help make a difference where we can,” commented Nigel Prendergast, head of customer at One Stop.
There will be in-store deals throughout the festive season, which will change weekly. The Christmas ‘Hero Deals’ will be run with a number of One Stop’s top brands including Cadburys, Walkers, Andrex, Pringles, Coca-Cola, Pepsi Max, Carling and Stella Artois, who will all have their own dedicated elf.
Alongside the supplier elves, there will also be five elves to catch, representing One Stop’s colleagues and customers who have been selected as community heroes.
“Last year One Stop became the first convenience retailer to ever create an Augmented Reality (AR) game with the introduction of Eddy the Elf. We’re thrilled to be bringing Eddy, our little character with a big personality, back into the heart of our stores this Christmas, alongside his ‘Hero Elf’ friends,” Prendergast said.
Customers can download the Eddy’s Christmas Heroes game from the App store to start finding the ‘elves’ in store.
Customers can also use the app to scan the barcode of the product that is featured in that week’s deal. The app will take the user directly to the chosen supplier’s dedicated website page or social channel where they can view Christmas-related content.
“Our 2020 campaign is all about focusing on positivity, reflection and warmth of the year gone by and we’re keen to create some fun, when people do visit. We’re hoping that Eddy the Elf, coupled with the celebration of Christmas heroes and market leading deals, will really help to provide a point of difference this year,” Prendergast concluded.
