Online sales double for Hancocks since lockdown

Hancocks Wholesale said its online sales have doubled since the lockdown began, though the specialist confectionery cash and carry has closed its depots from 29 March.

“With hundreds of orders being processed and delivered daily and some fantastic customer feedback, we anticipate this to only grow over the coming weeks,” the firm said in a statement.

While announcing the decision to close the depots in light of the social distancing measures, the wholesaler has said that it would continue the online operations. The firm has also lowered the minimum spend to £35 and free delivery threshold to £250 for online orders.

IB Group, the parent company of Hancocks, said all other businesses in the group are all continuing to operate.

Bonds Confectionery has focussed on a telesales operation as the sales team could not effectively operate on the road.

“We want to assure customers and suppliers that we are fully operational and aiming to maintain our next day delivery service, which is supported by DPD (parcel delivery),” the business said.

Bobby’s van sales operation is maintaining its full direct to store delivery service, with increased customer demand for snacks and cakes.  World of Sweets also continues to supply national accounts with their streamlined sales team.
