JJ Foodservice acquires Asian foods wholesaler Gatelands

JJ Foodservice has on Tuesday announced the acquisition of London wholesaler Gatelands Supplies Ltd.

Gatelands has over two decades of expertise in importing Thai, Chinese, and Japanese goods, and JJ said the acquisition will bring a highly skilled team dedicated to support the Asian hospitality sector into it.

“By combining Gatelands’ expertise with our distribution network, we’re reinforcing our commitment to support the Asian restaurant sector,” Baris Kacar, chief sales officer for JJ Foodservice, said.

Christopher Christophi, director of Gatelands Supplies, said: “With over 35 years of experience in the hospitality sector, JJ Foodservice stands as a prominent industry leader. Strategically situated across 12 locations, its expanded infrastructure means our customers will benefit from local collection, fast deliveries, and an extensive product range.”

The acquisition is effective immediately with the Gatelands team joining the Enfield Branch.

The purchase expands JJ Foodservice’s offering by over 300 Asian products, including Japanese egg plant, banana leaves, gyoza, ramen and exclusive items like Thai Food King Coconut Milk and Thai Majestic Jasmine Rice.

“We’re dedicated to continually growing our product range and increasing our knowledge and expertise through strategic acquisitions,” Kacar said. “We welcome any interested parties to reach out and explore potential collaborations.”
