Wine consumers are increasingly pairing the Pinot Noir grape variety with turkey.
Pinot Noir is worth over £51 million in UK retail sales. In convenience retail alone, Pinot Noir sales are valued at £10.3 million, and growing nearly 11% in value year on year according to IRI.
Ben Smith at Concha y Toro UK, distributor of Cono Sur Bicicleta Pinot Noir, said: “Pinot is the perfect red wine with turkey – fresh, fruity but with enough about it to match with the big bird with all the trimmings. Convenience shoppers love New World wines, and Chilean Pinot is one of the styles they are picking out more and more.”
Wine expert Victoria Moore added: “The berry taste of New World Pinot Noir is great with the Christmas turkey – it has a brightness that appeals to the tang of cranberry sauce.”
