Unitas completes first year of trading

Unitas Wholesale begins trading

Unitas Wholesale, the buying group formed from the merger of Today’s Group and Landmark Wholesale, has completed its first year of trading.

The UK’s leading wholesale services company began its trading operations on 1 November, 2018. The group has 170 members and 177,000 customers in retail, foodservice, on-trade and specialist channels.

The company has spent the anniversary sharing its progress to date and plans for the future with senior managers of its key suppliers at an event held at County Hall, London.

“A year ago, we presented our mission for Unitas to be ‘champion of independents and champion of brands’, which remains our focus,” said Darren Goldney, managing director.

“We shared our plan to move from a buying group to a selling group, to use our increased scale to be a relevant route to market for suppliers, anchored in efficiency and effectiveness.”

Goldney said the firm has completed eight out of the ten programmes in its 12-month consolidation plan.

“One is underway, and one launches in January,” he added.

The point of contact, event programme, core B2B and B2C promotional programmes, digital programme, core range scheme, finance process, own label have all unified as part of the plan.

The organisation will move to one data platform in January, while one central payment system is under development.

Over 90 supplier partners attended the event.
