Staff threatened with hammers in ‘shocking’ Heskin shop robbery

The staff at a SPAR convenience store in Heskin, Chorley were threatened by two armed men who stole cash and some cigarettes before making off from the shop.

The incident occurred at around 9pm on 1 December when the men armed with hammers entered the shop on Wood Lane.

Officers have now issued CCTV images of the suspects, appealing for information.

Both offenders are described as white, in their early 20s, of medium build and were wearing balaclavas and dark clothing. They spoke with northern accents and are believed to drive off in a blue vehicle.

“This is a shocking incident which must have been terrifying for the victims who were threatened by these men in their place of work,” DC Philip Hampson from Chorley CID said.

“Thankfully, they were not physically hurt during the robbery but have been left understandably extremely shocked and shaken.”

“These individuals were prepared to use weapons in order to steal and we are following a number of lines of enquiry in order to identify them.”
