Parfetts Sheffield depot has registered 10 percent growth in the last 12 months, thanks to the 24 hour retail cycle.

Retailers have recacted positively to the option of ordering up to midnight for deliveries the following day, with online’s share growing to 42 percent of the depot’s total sales. This is expected to hit 50 percent this year.

Guy Swindell, retail director of Parfetts, said the depot is the group’s performing site in terms of year on year growth and a “template for future operations.”

“The Sheffield site reflects the changing nature of our service as we invest in our digital services. Parfetts is undertaking a significant investment programme in new technology to support our continued growth in this area and meet the needs of our customers into the future,” he said.

The Sheffield depot operates as a cash and carry from 6.30 am to 6.30 pm. It is then used by the delivery and click and collect teams to pick orders through the night. Order can be taken up to midnight for next day delivery.

Across the UK, Parfetts sees 19 percent of retailers now ordering online. Online orders can either be delivered, subject to availability, or use the ‘click and collect’ service, which allows users to order from a nominated Parfetts depot and collect the products at the nominated time.
