Nestlé launches new range of YES! snack bars

Nestlé UK & Ireland has unveiled a new range of YES! snack bars powered by nuts and peas.

The bars, containing 10 grams of plant protein, come in two flavours: Almond, Peanut and Double Dark Chocolate; and Cashew, Blueberry and Dark Chocolate.

The new bars, like other YES! Bars, are made of wholesome ingredients, are a source of protein, high in fibre, use no artificial colours or preservatives, are gluten free and suitable for vegetarians. The bars are wrapped in sustainably-sourced recyclable paper.

Tapping into an emerging trend towards pea protein, the new bars also offer a new choice to consumers looking for more pioneering plant protein alternatives.

Nuts are the main ingredient in the bars, delivering a great combination of crunchy pea and nut, with the added luxury of smooth dark chocolate, made with sustainable cocoa certified by the Rainforest Alliance.

Rosamunde Hobson, brand manager for YES! said: “We know that people are increasingly, looking for options that are good both for them and for the environment. YES! plant protein bars provide a source of plant protein to deliver a great wholesome product on the go and are wrapped in paper packaging that is easy to recycle”.

Launching in August in Holland & Barrett stores, BP garages and WH Smith Travel outlets, the bars will be available from a range of wholesalers from September. Each bar has an RRP of £1.59.

The launch will be supported with social media, sampling activity and shopper activation.

The brand urged convenience retailers to site the bars within their healthy snacking fixture to capitalise on YES! plant protein bar sales. Locating the bars on-shelf next to lifestyle protein/enhanced well-being products (these typically have between 8g-12g of protein) and away from functional protein/enhanced performance products (these typically contain up to 20g protein) will be ideal, it said.
